I'm Jax Powell, a passionate Product Designer dedicated to making the world a better place by understanding users' needs and promoting inclusivity. Currently, I lead product design on the gamification team at CuraJOY, a behavioral healthcare nonprofit, designing wellness services for both B2C and B2B customers.
Previously, I contributed to impactful projects at the Urban League, Odyssey App, and NASA's JPL, gaining valuable experience across diverse industries. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Informatics HCI (human-computer interaction) from UC, Irvine where I also studied CS and business.

Journey
HOW I BECAME A DESIGNER
For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved creating. Whether it’s crafting, coding, or designing. I always thought I was going to go into software engineering but after taking a class in anthropology I found myself endlessly curious about how people use technology. I stumbled upon the world of UI/UX design and the intersection of art, technology, and psychology. Product design encompasses all that I love to do and allows me to make a meaningful impact on the lives of others.
WHAT I DO FOR WORK
Currently, I split my time between freelance design projects and my role as a designer for curaJOY, an organization dedicated to fostering emotional intelligence and mental well-being. At curaJOY, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to lead design efforts with innovative AI tools. My work focuses on creating intuitive, impactful solutions that bridge the gap between behavioral health and technology.
WHAT AM I SEEKING
I’m seeking opportunities to grow as a designer while creating meaningful and impactful products. I’m especially drawn to roles that involve product design, rapid prototyping, and emerging technologies like AI. My diverse experience in both B2B and B2C settings has equipped me with the versatility to adapt to various challenges. I thrive in collaborative teams that share my values of ambition, humility, and joy.
WHAT I DO FOR FUN
When I'm not designing, I enjoy immersing myself in activities that spark my creativity and curiosity. Whether it's exploring new places or experimenting with crafting projects, I’m always looking for new ways to stay inspired. I also love reading books to deepen my design knowledge (feel free to share your recommendations!). In my downtime, you’ll often find me playing RPG games or watching classic films with my cats.
